Advent Carols
Musical Director - Janet Lincé
This year we are performing not only a range of some very well-known carols, from Holst’s delightful ‘Lullay myn liking’, through John Joubert’s ever popular ‘Torches’ to John Gardner’s exhilarating setting of ‘Tomorrow shall be my dancing day’, but also some of the carols that composers have written especially for Choros over the years. Joining the ranks of commissioned pieces will be a lovely work – both music and words – written by Alice Stainer (Great, great grand-daughter of the composer Sir John Stainer) entitled ‘A sense of Advent’, and as ever there will also be chance for the audience to join in with several popular carols. This year we are including a rarely heard hymn-carol that we hope will swell the collection of Advent hymns.
Mulled wine in the interval.
